Dermaplaning

Congratulations on your dermaplaning treatment!

Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation that has removed dead skin cells and vellous hair from the surface of your skin.

Cleanse: Use a gentle cleanser and warm, not hot, water. Splash water on face. Do not use abrasive wash cloths, Clarisonic,or hot shower spray for the first 24-48 hours. Do not use cleansers, serums or spot treatments containing salicylic acid or Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) for 5 days following treatment.

Tone: Hydrating and brightening toners applied with a cotton round will penetrate deeper into the skin. If you are sensitive, try all products on a small area before applying full face.

Serums: Active ingredients in serums penetrate much better now, so you’ll see quicker results. Ask your esthetician about the right serums for your skin. Please do not use Retin-A, 5 days pre and post dermaplaning. For darker skin tones: use a brightening serum to reduce the risk of excess pigment production.

Moisturizer: Choose a hydrating moisturizer and apply twice daily. It’s common for skin to feel tight but is dewy to the touch.

SPF: Your skin is more vulnerable to UV rays after exfoliation. SPF is essential to protect your skin - even on cloudy days when UVA (aging) rays are present.

Makeup: Makeup can irritate skin after dermaplaning. Bacteria, alcohols, colorants and fragrance are all irritants that can cause contact dermatitis. Be sure to clean your makeup brushes and apply clean (new) makeup to minimize risks.

DO: Avoid sun exposure as much as possible. If you must be in the sun, apply and reapply SPF 30+ every 2 hours, wear a hat and sunglasses and seek shade.

DO: Delay exposure to excessive heat, heavy workouts, steam rooms and saunas for 24-48 hours post treatment.

DO: Wait 7 days before facial waxing. Waxing may be done prior to dermaplaning.

DO: Change your pillowcase and clean all makeup brushes.

DO: Schedule your appointments 4 weeks apart to optimize results.

Skin-Needling

Congratulations on your microneedling treatment!

The purpose of Microneedling is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer and more toned skin. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may treat scaring, wrinkles and large pores. After the treatment your skin will be red, a similar appearance to moderate sunburn. You may experience tightness and sensitivity which will diminish after a few hours to a few days following the treatment.

Contraderm and EFAs: A MUST for 3 days after needling

Cleanse: Use a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Splash water on face. Do not use abrasive wash cloths, Clarisonic or hot shower water for 24-48 hours. Do not use cleansers, serums or spot treatments containing salicylic acid or Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) for 5 days following treatment. Do not use exfoliating products for at least 3 days.

Serums: Please follow the advice and prescriptives from your therapist this will be the best for your individual skin, Active ingredients in serums penetrate much better now, so you’ll see quicker results. Please do not use Retin-A or chemical peels 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Moisturizer: Contraderm followed by your prescribed moisturiser and apply twice daily. It’s common for skin to feel tight but is dewy to the touch.

SPF: Your skin is more vulnerable to UV rays after needling. SPF is essential to protect your skin - even on cloudy days when UVA (aging) rays are present. Using a SPF 30+ is essential. Reapply SPF 30+ every 2 hours, wear a hat and sunglasses and seek shade.

Makeup: Makeup can irritate skin after microneedling. Bacteria, alcohols, colorants and fragrance are all irritants that can cause contact dermatitis. Be sure to clean your makeup brushes and apply clean (new) mineral makeup to minimise risks.

DO: Change your pillowcase and clean all makeup brushes.

DO: Delay exposure to excessive heat, heavy workouts, steam rooms and saunas for 24-48 hours post treatment or until redness is gone.

DO: Expect redness for up to 3 days. Pinpoint bleeding may occur directly after treatment depending on the intensity of the needling and the reaction of your skin.

DO: Avoid waxing, facials, botox, injectable fillers or any other skin care treatment two weeks after treatment.

It is essential that you are taking EFAs internally pre and post treatment to help support the skins structure. We recommend the DMK enzyme therapy with needling or alternating.

Alkaline

Congratulations on your Alkaline treatment

What to expect:

The skin will feel rubbery and slippery. You may also experience some tingling with the application of the DMK serums and cremes after the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment. This is to be expected and is normal. You may also experience some post-treatment sensations, which are common with your first treatment and will not pose any long-term issues as long as you adhere to your full DMK Home Prescription program.

The DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment may not feel pleasant to some individual. However in some cases, usually after the initial treatment and before the skin has adjusted to alkaline, you may experience some redness or dryness. You may also experience some superficial scabbing, although this normally occurs when the skin has adapted to the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment and deeper re-surfacing is required, requiring the alkaline wash solution to be left on the skin for a longer period of time. As long as you do not scratch or pick the scabs, they should heal given normal conditions.

As with any product applied topically, it is possible that some people may experience an adverse reaction. While alkaline wash is usually accompanied by minimum discomfort, provided you follow the home prescriptives program prescribed for you by your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist, you may experience the following:

- Redness and a slight sandpaper effect on the skin.

- Peeling proceeded by a crusty hardness to the skin’s surface.

- Irritation around the eyes and the mouth area, and in some cases on the chin.

- An outbreak of pimples and other impurities that were already present within the skin.

- A slight burning sensation or “sunburn” sensation in the early stages of the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment.

- An irritated open lesion that may weep and then scab before healing normally. If you experience this you must notify your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist so they can prescribe an appropriate course of DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment.

After care instructions:

-In order to undergo any of the pH revision/DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatments it is a requirement that you are already using a regime of DMK Home Prescriptive products, including Beta Gel, crème, mist, and EFA Ultra.

- Only use DMK Home Prescriptive products on the treated area as prescribed by your DMK Professional Skin Revision Therapist. The use of non-prescribed products may adversely affect the DMK Professional Skin Revision Treatment’s outcome.

- Do not sunbathe or use a solarium for 24-hours. DMK does not recommend the use of solariums. Apply DMK Soleil Defence SPF 50+ on the treated area if you expect exposure to the sun.

- Use Beta Gel, Contraderm, Actrol Powder and ice for post-treatment relief.
